According to NY State of Health’s Facebook page, individuals looking to secure health insurance effective 1/1/14 will now have until 12/23/13 to enroll. This one week extension of the enrollment deadline is good news for NY individuals that will be losing their health insurance coverage on 1/1/14 (e.g. those currently enrolled in the Healthy NY program).
Contact certified insurance brokers to learn more about individual health plans available on or off-exchange based on your unique situation. Remember, you only need to enroll in coverage through the NY online marketplace if you are eligible to receive Advance Premium Tax Credits to help pay your premiums. Otherwise, you can enroll even easier using short paper applications with broker assistance.
