NYS renters, condo, and landlord insurance falls under the “homeowners insurance” group of products. Depending on your situation, you will require one of the following homeowners insurance policy forms:

HO3: Homeowners Insurance. This policy form protects you from losses for your physical property (aka: dwelling or structure), contents, and 3rd party liability
HO4: Renters insurance. This policy form protects you from losses for your contents, and 3rd party liability only. There is no coverage for the physical structure as your landlord will have a policy for that
HO6: Condo insurance. This policy form protects you from losses for your contents, 3rd party liability, and the interior walls of your condominium unit. It does not cover the physical structure itself as your condo association has insurance for that
DP3: Landlord insurance. Also known as a Fire Policy, landlord insurance is designed to cover a dwelling that is rented to tenants. It also offers a small amount of contents coverage to cover built in appliances (e.g. refrigerators, cooking stoves, water heaters) and 3rd party liability
